The series This Image (2009–2024) is now published in full on the studio platform. The project examines the phenomenological distinctions between image, photograph, and the explanatory text that claims to describe the visual. The visual‐textual formulas that govern image circulation online — captions, labels, platform restriction messages, slogans — are isolated and subjected to scrutiny as a genre in their own right: one that systematically reduces, distorts, and generates ambiguity even as it promises clarification. The work refers to and extends a tradition of text‐image‐based conceptual practice associated with Lawrence Weiner, Barbara Kruger, the Guerrilla Girls, Ed Ruscha, and Klaus Staeck, while directing that critical inheritance toward the specific conditions of digital image governance.
The complete series is now available on the studio website.
