versos — Project started

Date: 28.08.2024

Initiated on the occasion of the 2024 elections for the 8th Brandenburg State Parliament, versos, #1 is the first edition of the wider versos project.

The series captures local politicians in the act of hanging their campaign posters — but exposes only the blank white reverse of the placards, reducing the political message to a form without content. This deliberate inversion produces a recursive overlap of three dimensions: the natural person, their performative act of self‐image‐making, and the emptied medium itself. The gesture is strictly non‐partisan: the project makes no distinction between parties or ideologies, attending instead to the labor and vulnerability of political self‐representation as such. As the project continues across future elections in Europe, it reflects on how the political image is constructed — revealing the human face behind the societal role.

Fieldwork is ongoing across Brandenburg. Updates will follow.
